Straight From Theo's Suite To Your Screen

Theo Epstein, still glowing from his acquisition of the player who Boston coveted most, Adrian Gonzalez, outlined in general what his club's needs will be before opening day. Think bullpen. Here you go...

"Bullpen, bullpen, maybe integrate a right-handed bat into the mix if we can find the right one. ... I feel like if we brought back the same outfield group, we'd be OK. I think here is a possibility of us doing something in the outfield, it might be a more complementary-type move. We actually have some nice depth as it is.”

To put it this way, Carl Crawford will not be pursued, much less old friend Adrian Beltre. Epstein likes the 1-9 lineup as is and the reserves proved themselves last year. Epstein also said he expected to acquire at least two relievers via trade or free agency. Brian Fuentes, Ron Mahay and Koji Uehara are possible targets. Theo said that our man Youk's rehab is going "really well." Lastly, talks are still under away with Hideki Okajima, the Darkman. The Darkman might be packing his bags soon for a journey, a long journey far far away. Red Sox Nation wishes him well.

So that's it for Day 1 AG (after Gonzalez). It looks like everything's coming up roses, red roses for the Red Sox. These are the times to remember but they will not last forever. These are the days to hold onto but we won't although we'll want to. These are the days. My thanks to Billy Joel for the beautiful words and my thanks go out to you for popping in. Click on this post's title for more Red Sox news and as always, BE WELL. Let's be careful out there. GO SOX.
