Nick Green's Walkoff HR Wins It For The Red Sox...Boston 6 Atlanta 5 *Daisuke Matsuzaka Placed On The DL, For A LONG Time* YANKEES LOSE.

This is from the AP, just now...

"Nick Green homered just inside the right-field foul pole on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth to give the Boston Red Sox a 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
Facing Jeff Bennett for the first time in his career, the shortstop who began spring training as a non-roster player but became a regular hit his fourth homer of the season. His jubilant teammates poured out of the dugout and mobbed him at home plate.
Jonathan Papelbon (1-1) loaded the bases in the ninth but ended the threat by striking out Matt Diaz."

Another series win for the first place Boston Red Sox, the Good Guys. A full report will be up first thing Monday morning. Here's the scoreboard. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H
Atlanta 2 0 0 0 0 0 2 1 0 5 14
Boston « 3 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 1 6 10

Here is the latest BAD news on Daisuke Matsuzaka from Boston dot com...

"Daisuke Matsuzaka has been placed on the 15-day DL, Red Sox manager Terry Francona said on Sunday, and he hinted that the struggling righty's recovery could take months. "It's not going to be a two-week DL thing," said Francona. "We have a lot of work ahead of us to get him back to being Daisuke."

Ouch, but necessary. On the brighter side, the Yankees lose again to the Marlins. The Red Sox lead in the AL East is now 4 games. GO SOX. A much-needed day off tomorrow and then the Nationals Tuesday night.
