Beckett Unhittable For 6 2/3 As Red Sox Whup Detroit...Boston 10 Detroit 5

Josh Beckett continued his streak of inspiringly great starts with a 10-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers. It was Boston's third road win in a row and this afternoon, they go for the sweep. With the Yankees loss, they are in statistical first place. It's a nice place to be, especially when a team is playing away from home. Beckett allowed no hits for 6 2/3 innings but with two outs in the seventh, Curtis Granderson, the Tigers' best hitter, lashed a single to dash any hopes of magic. But Boston scored six runs in the eighth to make a 4-0 game a 10-0 laugher. Because of eighth inning infield fielding miscues and poorish pitching, the Tigers scored five times. The lead was still five and Boston earned the victory. In all, Beckett went 7 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, NONE of them earned, on two measly base hits. He struck out nine and walked only two. In a word, he was dominent. He said this after the contest...

“My bullpen was a little suspect, but after the first inning I thought my stuff was pretty good,” Beckett said. “I thought I threw enough curveballs early in the count. You definitely have to locate your fastball against this team because they’re a good fastball-hitting team.”

He located...boy, did he! Josh won his fourth start in a row...we all know when he's going good, the Boston Red Sox win plenty of baseball games. That's the way we like it. Oh, Big Papi David Ortiz stroked a bases loaded double in that crooked number eighth inning to send many Tiger fans home a bit early. I smiled...widely. The two teams will go again today at 1:05 pm EDT. It'll be Wakefield versus Willis. I have a great feeling about this game. Go Timmy...GO SOX.

Nadia arrived here in Hartford a little late, a lot tan, but most important, safely. She had such a long trip. She had egg drop soup with pork fried rice (her request) and a couple spring rolls and then we went out to the steamy but beautiful pool for an outdoor night swim. She's still sleeping, bless her heart. I'm so happy when she's with me. I really am.

Have a great Thursday...it's cool and cloudy here but the sun is supposed to show itself and if it does, the temperatures will leap into the mid to upper 70s. Sounds nice. Click on this post's title for more on last night's Beckettness and as always, BE WELL. I'd love to read and respond to any of your comments. Thanks! See you...soon.
