Unearned Run And The Marlins Are DONE

*******50-29*******

It's on to Tampa Bay ater this thrilling and frustrating win over the Marlins. Jon Lester went 5 innings, some smooth, some not so smooth. He threw 97 pitches. Julia Tavarez came in next. Why, in a close game does Tito go to this skirt wearing run giver, I have no idea. Timlin followed Julia's impersonation of a relief pitcher's outing, gaining the victory, with Little Manny doing just fine getting us to Paps, who earned his 25th save in 27 chances. He worked an inning and a third. HR bashers? Tek, Youk and Papi. And a sacrifice fly by All Star Mark Loretta brought in the eventual winning run, and created Paps time for the last 4 outs. And when it's Paps time, good things happen. And they did.
We now own a gaudy 50-29 record. That's even thrilling to type! Josh and Curt go in the first 2 games against Tampa Bay, with JJ, I assume, starting on Wednesday and Wakes on getaway day Thursday. And that sets up the rotation PERFECTLY for the 3 game set against the White Sox, with Lester, Josh in a nationally televised Fox game, and Curt, who should be but isn't going to the All Star Game. With his start Sunday, he most likely would not have pitched, but he deserves to be there.
50-29. WOW!

this little gem right here is my Monday morning laugh: "impersonation of a relief pitcher's outing"

perfectly stated. of course Tito could have opted for Rudy instead. i am starting to believe he has an addiction problem with putting in a reliever ending in EZ. right about now I am willing to pay those two guys their salaries NOT to pitch.

Yay! I'll finally get to go to a game. I'll be at Friday's game somewhere in the bleachers on the 3rd base line.
I'm ready as ever to have them all boo me for sporting my Sox paraphernalia

That's right!! Chicago and our Sox, with Jon Lester going on Friday. I think we'll take 2 of 3. Hopefully 1 of those wins will be the one you go to, Jess. And dawn, Julia or Rudy?? Runs ensue. My goodness. But we're good, real good. Thanks for reading. It means so much.

Schill belongs there, but he most likely would not have pitched because of his scheduled start on Sunday against the maybe mighty White Sox. I say...BRING 'EM ON! Lester, Josh and Curt, and then the blessed All Star break. 50-29...boy, do I love typing that. I was rejoicing when our record was 40-28. Take care, and thanks for being here.

Peter,
WHAt do you guys think about Ortiz making the alllstar team?

Hi K! Where should he play? The game is in an NL park. Would you raher have him not play because he is a DH, or would you rather have one of the most exciting players in all of baseball, BIG PAPI, who is just fine at first base, play in front of the whole country that voted him in. Until the rules are the same for each league, Papi should play. I'm surprised at your stance, a little. Enjoy tonight's game.

Kayla, I didn't want to sound abrupt or anything. I love it that you read and comment....I really really do. Never leave. But you know who is the 2nd largest vote-getter for 1B? Yep, Giambi. I for one would rather have Papi in there defensively. Giambi is a DH who masquerades as a below average first baseman. And Papi? CLUTCH, in a word. Have a great night.

I heard he got plunked (great word) 3 times by 3 DIFFERENT pitchers, tying a record. I never saw such a thing! That game was on too late for me. You must be on the West coast or something. Good job.
