Something About Someone Dear To My Heart

A Trot Nixon, our right fielder, thought. He is one that, in my mind, we have to sign.......He had a bad day, but he has had a terrific first half offensely. And if he is traded before his free agency, I do want to point out how damn unbelievable his defense in right field is, was, and WILL be. When he is healthy, like he is right now, Fenway's Dewey territory is in good hands. And it is one of the toughest right fields to patrol in all of baseball. So I say, right now, that we should sign him for 2 years, with an option year. He is the heart and soul, the original "dirt dog" of the club. He would take a bullet while others would duck.

my thoughts are: so few players stay with ONE BALL CLUB for their whole career. i think Boston owes him the respect of allowing him to finish his career as part of the Red Sox organization, if he chooses to--and being the team player that he is, i would be shocked speechless if he did not want that.

i also think that we owe that same courtesy to Tim Wakefield as well. he may not have played his WHOLE career in Boston, but all but his first 2 years, he was part of the Red Sox.

~**dawn**~, exactly right. But it's more than a courtesy....where else will the powers that be find a better defensive right fielder, one that knows every knook and cranny (muffin, please!) of Fenway's crazy right field acres. And the fan devotion. OFF THE SCALE. Hope your weekend was great!
And julie, I sent you the link for your own blog. Email if ya got it! You have the gift, and you'll have so much fun. Way better than homework. Right Cyn?

peter, i agree. i love trot and i can't imagine him anywhere else. he still has a few great years in him and he seems to have been playing his heart out this year to secure a spot in the future. i was sad to see his average drop 11 points yesterday. it stinks to have a bad day for 19 innings. most days an 0-fer will drop your average 1 or 2 points, but he had some rotten luck to have an 0-fer yesterday.
and thank you so much for the blog info! as soon as i get home from my summer job (yes i have been reading blogs while at my job... oops) i will make a blog! =]

I won't tell anyone. And I know the easy steps they map out for you are so easy. And then your first post. A great feeling. Remember to set the time zone correctly. It gives you an all around the world wherever you are option. So you pick Eastern time. I think that hint wasn't needed. My mistake. But.....that way, when people leave comments, and they will, you know exactly when they were submitted. And if you need help, I'm an email away. And when you name your blog, be creative, and maybe have your first name in it. I know that Arielle would give you so much help, but blogspot is something I know. Good luck. Look forward to bookmarkng your blog. YOUR BLOG! Sounds great!!!

i am more than confident with Kapler in RF though. that isn't the point. Trot deserves to play in Boston for as long as he wants to stay. it would be a disgrace any other way. RF belongs to Trot--all 120% of his heart & soul.

Our Mr. Kapler can play any outfield that Fenway has to offer. 4th outfielder..just like we have our own DH person in the outer banks.
