A Josh In Atlanta Fact...From The Globe

'Josh Beckett (13 starts, 7-3, 5.26 ERA, 17 home runs allowed) has a lower ERA at Turner Field (1.67) than in any park in which he's pitched at least 25 innings."
***Peter here. Hey Josh, keep it up with those numbers down in Hotlanta. And no taters, please! I'll be listening. No eyes involved, unfortunately. As Felix Unger would say, in a very funny episode of THE ODD COUPLE, "You're my eyes, Gloria!" He was temporarily blinded, cut loose like a deuce, and today in Connecticut, we are, too. But I'll get by with a little help from my friends. My friends! That was John and Paul, last names not needed. And a little Bruce added for spice. Again, no last name needed. There is only one BRUUUCE. Never to be another.

Meanwhile, much of the Country will be sticking hot pokers in their ears, listening to some brilliant oint, made by Tim Mc Carver

Brilliantly for the U.S.A., Muntari has buried an unstopable shot into the roof of the net, to give Ghana a deserved 2-0 lead with 8 mins left. They have held on and the U.S.A. and Italy are safe, for today, regardless of the result. A win for the Eagles would certainly place them in an very good position.

The Italy v U.S.A. match will be a huge event in Kaiserlautern in an hours time

A lovely afternoon of baseball, Peter. Despite Manny's knee, and despite the efforts of Tavarez to lose the game for us, we prevailed. Josh got the win. Pap came through in the 9th, and, just to add a cherry on top, Yanks lose to the Nats!
It's a good day.

Peter, our brains must have been sharing some space in the ether today. That very song was going through my mind all afternoon!
