AMAZIN'........In Every Way

***COCO DAZZLES WITH TREMENDOUS CATCH***

The Red Sox did everything right last night, Connecticut Day at Fenway Park. They bunted, they fielded, they caught the ball, and they hit. And Curt Schilling, facing fellow 200 game winner Tom Glavine, was just fine. He won his 10th game of the season, going 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Timlin and Paps finished up, with Paps gaining his 24th save. The Red Sox tied the all-time major league mark for consecutive errorless games, a mark that can be broken tonight in the Sunshine State. Oh what a night. And one other thing. We wore down Tom Glavine, making him throw so many pitches that he was washed up and wasted, ready for the shower, after 5. Hey Tom, the hot water's on us!
Some Mets-Sox stats, with the Red Sox numbers first. Runs, 23-8. Hits,32-20. Batting avg.,.333-.206, and starters ERA, 2.75-11.68. (Htfd. Courant). ANNIHILATION. Pure and simple. And a dozen it is.

It's kind of slipped under the radar with Coco's catch and everything, but getting Glavine's pitch count up over 100 was huge. Another great job by the Sox!

Jonathon, Iain, and **dawn**. thanks as always for your comments. And Iain, what you said is a nuance, a quality of this team that sets it apart from most others. And it starts with Youk. And Markl. The wearing down of the opposing pitcher, either a lefty or a righty. It does not matter, not THIS year, but after 5 inings last night, Glavine, one of THE BEST THERE IS THIS YEAR, was ready for his complimentory shower. Good pickup, Iain. And ***dawn***, those little things that we do will just add up to a 2006 to remember...........forever. Thanks for stopping by, everyday.. It means so much.,

peter,
great recap. as pretty much everyone knows, i was at the game last night and coco's catch was absolutely stunning. the fenway faithful just erupted when we realized that he had held on to the ball, and we were screaming for all of "sweet caroline." it was really cool because that song fit really perfectly with the emotions we were all feeling... "good times never seemed so good" ;)

Glavine has pitched like that in last 3 starts, so it's not surprising:

Series gave me a chance to go off on Fred The Mets owner, for doing a 53.3% ticket Price Increase in '01;

I feel Good;

Chant of "Let's Go Mets" heard against DFYankees;
